About Our Town
The
Town
of Schererville became a town in 1866 with 25 families.
As we look at Schererville today, it has grown to a town of
just under 25,000 in population. What once was a farming town
made up largely of German immigrants has grown to a diversified
community made up of all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds.
As "Crossroads of the Nation" Schererville leads
the area in commerce, economic development and opportunities
for the future. There is offered a wide array of eateries
and shopping to just about satisfy anyone living in town or
simply passing through.
Schererville
remains an outstanding place to live and raise a family, especially
with an excellent school system. With the opening of the Schererville
Town Hall complex, residents can take pride in their community
and look ahead to a bright future.
