As we eagerly await the upcoming WWDC 2026, I can't help but dream of the possibilities that Apple's next-generation operating systems might bring. While rumors and speculation abound, I want to take a moment to share my personal hopes and dreams for what I'd like to see in OS 27. From health and productivity to design and connectivity, here's a glimpse into my wish list for Apple's upcoming software update.
Health for Mac
One of my biggest wishes for OS 27 is to see the Health app make its way to the Mac. As someone who values health and wellness, I find it incredibly useful to have all my health data in one place, and the iPad version has been a game-changer. Imagine being able to access your health information, fitness tracking, and medical records directly on your Mac! It would be a seamless integration that would make managing your health even easier.
iPhone Mirroring on iPad
Another feature I'm hoping for is iPhone mirroring on the iPad. As someone who uses both devices extensively, I often find myself wishing for a way to access iPhone apps directly on my iPad. iPhone mirroring would allow me to control iPhone apps that aren't available on the Mac, such as Health, and would make multitasking and productivity even more efficient. It's a simple yet powerful feature that would enhance the iPad's capabilities.
iPad Mirroring on Mac
On the flip side, I'd also love to see iPad mirroring on the Mac. While it may not be for everyone, I believe it's the logical next step in Apple's Continuity vision. Imagine being able to access all your iPad apps and features directly on your Mac! It would create a seamless workflow between the two devices and make it even easier to work and play across Apple's ecosystem.
Upgraded Journal App on the Mac
The Journal app has been a valuable addition to both iPhone and iPad, but I believe it's time for an upgrade on the Mac. Currently, the Mac version lacks many of the content suggestions and features found in the iPhone and iPad versions. I hope that Apple takes the time to enhance the Mac version, making it a more comprehensive and useful tool for productivity and self-reflection.
Liquid Glass Appearance Toggle on Apple Watch
While I appreciate the Liquid Glass design on the Mac, I find it a bit unsettling on the Apple Watch. The clear Liquid Glass elements, especially notifications, feel a bit out of place on the watch face. I'd love to see Apple offer an appearance toggle for Liquid Glass on the Apple Watch, allowing users to choose between the standard watch face and a more transparent design.
Expanded Window Limit on iPad
Apple has made great strides in improving the iPad's windowing system with iPadOS 26, but I believe there's still room for improvement. The current limit of 12 app windows at a time feels restrictive, especially when compared to the Mac's capabilities. I hope that Apple expands the window limit, allowing users to have more flexibility and multitasking options on the iPad.
Wallet App Everywhere
Finally, I'd love to see the Wallet app graduate from Settings to a proper app on the iPad and Mac. Apple's Passwords experience has shown that moving from Settings to a dedicated app can work seamlessly, and I believe the same could be true for Wallet. A standalone Wallet app would make it easier to manage payments, loyalty programs, and other essential information, providing a more user-friendly experience.
As we count down the days until WWDC 2026, I can't help but dream of these features and more. While it's impossible to predict what Apple will reveal, I'm excited to see what the future holds for Apple's operating systems. From health and productivity to design and connectivity, OS 27 has the potential to be a game-changer, and I can't wait to see what Apple has in store for us.
